Amy Rose

Oxford High School KAY alumna Amy Rose joined KAY originally because of her two older sisters who were also in KAY. She knew that they enjoyed themselves and the time they had with other KAY members. Rose would go on to work with her club sponsor Sharlene Book, and serve as her club’s Vice President.

Rose’s favorite memory of her time in KAY was her school’s end of the year banquet, and her time at KAY Leadership Camp. She notes “My favorite memory had to have been our end of year banquet. We took our moms, got all dressed up and had a program and farewell dinner for our seniors. KAY camp was also a great memory. I made life-long friends, one of which I reconnected with (Sarah O’Donnell) when we went to Kansas State University.”

When Rose thinks back to what she learned from her time KAY, she notes that KAY “helped me find activities that helped build relationships with my classmates as well as girls in other grades. As a freshman I had a “big sis.” She made high school and the seniors a not so scary thing.”

These are lessons that Rose still applies in her daily life today as a Manager for Bath and Body works in Wichita, KS. “I learned a lot of team development from KAY that I use in the business world today. In KAY we always organized purchasing and delivering carnations on Valentine’s Day. I learned the basics of fundraising and making people’s day with it!”
